MJ's first post
No Man's Land is for the truly global citizen. No xenophobic attachment to a country, instead a desire to create a fair and just world based on an understanding that we all share universal values and aspirations. At the heart of such a world view diversity is to be treasured and enriches life. I know this more than most as a third generation Kenyan of Indo-pak origin brought up in the Midlands of England. London was the home of my university and I have been here ever since to pursue a legal career to right the wrongs done to others. Now I work in the city but live in a multi-racial inner city neighbourhood. So my past and present are rooted in a diverse mix of culture, traditions and peoples. As a Muslim I am now the "other" in the only society that I have known. From the two tone beat of Thatcher's britain to the rap/nasheed from the desert. What a strange mix which has no particular genre. There is no homogenity, no rules and you are not accepted by the east or west - welcome to No Man's Land with no allies in sight.
